Vaccination coverage (or immunization coverage) is the percentage of a population that is immunized against a disease.

This dashboard provides detailed data on routine adult vaccination coverage, as well as seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Canada. Data comes from the 2023 and 2024 Vulnerable and Hard-to-reach COVID-19 Immunization Coverage Survey (VHCICS) and the 2025 Key Adult Populations Immunization Coverage Survey (KAPICS). We report on the general population (all people surveyed). We also report on key populations defined by factors like:

The data add to existing vaccination research and may help generate further research.

  • We based vaccination coverage estimates on survey data from:
    • 2023 (January 9 to February 23, 2023, n = 5,703)
    • 2024 (January 11 to March 3, 2024, n = 5,862)
    • 2025 (February 19 to March 23, 2025, and May 1 to July 3, 2025, n = 5,754)
  • We could not set quotas when targeting four populations: health care workers, industry workers, transportation workers, and people who use drugs. As a result, we collected data for these populations through a pattern of naturally occurring characteristics that emerge within the general population.
  • Populations are not mutually exclusive. Respondents can fall into multiple populations. For example, a respondent can be part of the young adults population as well as the industry workers population, or part of the transportation workers and rural or remote communities populations
  • In 2025, we didn’t capture health care workers, industry workers and transportation workers populations in the survey. The urban Indigenous population was reframed as “Indigenous.”
  • We measured vaccine coverage differently depending on the type of vaccine, respondent age group and respondent province or territory of residence:
    • the number of COVID-19 vaccines included “none” or “at least one dose” responses, measured among all respondents (2023, 2024 and 2025)
    • influenza vaccination included “yes” or “no” responses, measured among all respondents (2024 and 2025)
    • pertussis (whooping cough) vaccination as an adult included “yes” or “no” responses, measured among all respondents (2025 only)
    • tetanus vaccination within the past 10 years included “yes” and “no” responses, measured among all respondents (2025 only)
    • pneumococcal vaccination included “yes” and “no” responses, measured among people aged 50 years and older in Nunavut and 65 years and older in other provinces and territories (2025 only)
    • human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination included “yes” and “no” responses, measured among all respondents (2025 only)
    • shingles vaccination included “yes” and “no” responses, measured among people aged 50 years and older (2025 only)
  • The HPV vaccine was introduced in school programs for girls in Canada between 2007 and 2020, and for boys from 2018/2019 to 2021
