Drug Analysis Service and Cannabis Laboratory
Health Canada’s Drug Analysis Service and Cannabis Laboratory analyze drugs and substances submitted by Canadian law enforcement and public health officials.

Over the past few years, HC DAS and CL developed a drug classification framework, which is now used to filter our data. Based on this classification, the new version of the drug report now allows you to explore the number of identifications by all specific pharmacological classes and subclasses.
These statistics are based on samples submitted to the Drug Analysis Service (DAS) and as such, samples analyzed may not be completely representative of drug seizures in Canada, including substances circulating on the market. DAS data should therefore be used with caution when determining trends or drawing conclusions about the type and nature of substances circulating on the illicit market. The data below (number of identifications) represent the number of times a substance was identified in submitted samples. A single sample may contain more than one substance.
Categorization of substances is based on the DAS and CL Drug classification, which is established on the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

Number of identifications by pharmacological class and subclass
There was a total of identifications of stimulants during that period which represents a over the same period last year.
There were XXXX identifications of subclass during that period, which is a XX% decrease/increase over the same period last year. They account for XX% of all identified pharm class during the period.

Notes
When requested by law enforcement agencies for a particular investigation, quantitative analysis, aimed at determining the quantity of a controlled substance in a sample, are performed only for certain substances and are carried out on a very small subset of exhibits that are analyzed.
