Health Canada’s Drug Analysis Service (DAS) and Cannabis Laboratory (CL) analyze samples submitted by law enforcement agencies and public health partners across Canada to support investigations, monitor new and emerging trends, and inform public health and safety responses.

To improve awareness of new and emerging drugs in Canada, notifications are sent to law enforcement agencies and public health partners whenever:
- a potentially harmful substance or mixture is encountered for the first time in a province or territory
- a product is found in a form that may mislead consumers
