Canadian Risk Factor Atlas (CRFA) : Long-term trends
The Canadian Risk Factor Atlas (CRFA) is an interactive database that shows the prevalence of several key chronic disease risk factors. The Long-term Trends page presents the prevalence of chronic disease risk factors over time by sex and age groups and by various sociodemographic characteristics.

- Rates are age-standardized to the 2011 Canadian census population.
- Significant linear trends over time were assessed using linear regression with year as the predictor and prevalence of the risk factor as the outcome. If the p-value for year was < 0.05 there was a significant linear trend. The lack of a significant linear trend does not indicate that prevalences have not changed over time, as the prevalence of a risk factor may have fluctuated over time:
- Increased: a significant upward linear trend was observed for this risk factor.
- Decreased: a significant downward linear trend was observed for this risk factor.
- No linear trend: no linear trend was observed for this risk factor.
