About AMRNet-Vet
AMRNet-Vet is a pilot project that captures data on antimicrobial resistance from veterinary laboratories in Canada. AMRNet-Vet includes all animal species and all bacterial pathogens tested in participating laboratories. Only clinical isolates from sick animals are included in the AMRNet-Vet program.
Data from AMRNet-Vet can provide information on trends in antimicrobial resistance, guide antimicrobial stewardship initiatives and inform policies on veterinary antibiotic use.
Veterinary Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) data
The antibiogram, tables and graphs below summarize antimicrobial resistance trends in different animals. These data were submitted by laboratories in seven provinces and include data submitted from the following partners:
- Alberta: University of Calgary - Diagnostic Services Unit (2024–2025)
- Manitoba: Veterinary Diagnostic Services Laboratory (2021–2025)
- New Brunswick: Provincial Veterinary Laboratory (2022–2025)
- Ontario: University of Guelph - Animal Health Laboratory (2021–2025)
- Quebec: Le Centre de diagnostic vétérinaire de l’Université de Montréal and Le Laboratoire de santé animale du ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (2024–2025)
- Prince Edward Island: University of Prince Edward Island - Atlantic Veterinary College Diagnostic Services (2021–2025)
- Saskatchewan: University of Saskatchewan - Prairie Diagnostic Services (2021–2025)
The antibiograms (Figure 1, Table 1) include aggregated data from 2024 and 2025, while the graphs (Figure 2, Table 2) include data from 2021–2025. Please see the Methods section below for a detailed description of the data included in these charts.

Methods & Limitations
AMRNet-Vet is a pilot surveillance program currently under development. AMRNet-Vet data represent what is tested by laboratories. Data from participating laboratories may not be representative of all specimens or all Canadian regions.
Different laboratories use different techniques for antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Data on specific animal-bacteria-antimicrobial combinations are not available from all laboratories. Only combinations meeting the following criteria were included in the analyses:
- >50% of isolates in an animal-bacteria category were tested for a given antimicrobial at ≥3 laboratories
- ≥30 isolates were submitted for the animal-bacteria-antibiotic combination
Fields that do not meet these requirements are blank under Percent susceptibility in the text description for Figure 2.
Where laboratories provided interpretations of antimicrobial susceptibility test results, that interpretation was used for the analyses. Duplicate submissions from the same animal or herd may be included in results.
