Tuberculosis Disease Surveillance: TB outcomes
This dashboard provides information on Tuberculosis (TB) disease in Canada.
- Last updated: 2026-05-29
Context
Tuberculosis (TB) treatment takes several months, therefore data on treatment outcomes are received one year after a case is first reported.
Note: TB outcomes are reported for cases reported from the previous year. This allows enough time for patients to complete their treatment and for the results to be recorded.
For detailed information on the Canadian Tuberculosis Reporting System (CTBRS), including the specific methods and definitions used in this report, please refer to About the Programs
Treatment outcomes
- Success Rate: In 2023, approximately 76.5% of people with TB disease were either cured or successfully completed treatment, while 0.5% were reported as treatment failures or discontinued due to adverse events. The proportion of treatment success is likely higher than reported, as individuals were still undergoing treatment or were not captured in the analyses due to transfers between jurisdictions.
